Writing Your Narrative: A Choose-Your-Own Adventure

Teaching

A few years ago, I had an idea that maybe I could illustrate the right and wrong ways to open and close a narrative essay with a choose-your-own adventure-style story.

This week, I finally tried it.

It took way longer than I thought it would, and there was some cussing at the program when it wouldn’t save certain links in the chain, and trying to get all the threads straight kinda broke my brain, but the draft is done.

Wanna play?

This was really cool (though the link doesn’t work with the period at the end of it, I had to delete that and reload). What a great way to structure storytelling!

On a related note, I was also a picky eater who was converted out of pickiness because of a boyfriend whose favorite food was sushi, and I went to dinner with his entire sushi-loving family and was forced to eat a bunch of random tentacles/the entire content of the sea floor so as to fit in. Hard to nitpick what you eat out of “ewww, gross” after that.

    Sushi converts so many people!
